my hair has a mind of its own

as you can see by these pictures, my hair is indecisive. sometimes it likes to look brunette and other times it wants to look red. just plain fickle if you ask me. but enough about my hair...

today, i ended up buying a top with zebras on it. yes, zebras. not zebra print, but whole bodied zebras. that just happened. and i'm pretty excited about it. also excited about my bargains. i bought 2 feather headbands at a penny each! and the lady told me she couldn't give me another discount. absolutely unacceptable. she's lucky that i'm in love with the store (called francesca's collections). i'm pretty happy that it was a successful shopping trip (and it didn't break the bank), because nothing is worse than leaving the mall empty handed.

the owner of beau-alexis beautique told me over the weekend that she might be retiring soon and is looking to sell her business. ummm HELLO. this is something that i want. it would be a start to my dream. my dream is to open up my own shop, and continue writing my blog. can i do it? she told me it is a lot of work, and most of the time, shops fail. but could you imagine if i pulled it off? i would be the happiest girl ever. i would be living my DREAM. it's just something that i really need to think about. i really need to just jump.

2. my best friend, stephanie, visiting from washington d.c. -- shopping and titanic in 3D!

6. the bridesmaids lines we quote nonstop at work 

7. when i was asked to make jewelry to sell for consignment at a salon

bitter sweet

it's always  nice to spend time with family you normally don't see. like my cousins from los angeles, or my aunt and uncles from colorado. only i wish it was under better circumstances this time. we all came together to celebrate the life of my dear auntie thelma. her passing was unexpected and a complete shock, but i think it brought us all closer together. i think auntie would be proud of us (also wishing we weren't making such a fuss), and i know she will be looking over each and every one of us. here's to you auntie thelma. i love you. i'll be seeing you.

weekend

what this weekend consisted of:

• curling my hair...twice!
• a 3 hour nap after work on saturday 
• having apricot beer and a glass of moscato in one sitting -- yeah, i'm crazy like that
• pancakes! 
• watching m and his nephew set up a train track together
• a lovely little nature walk 
• basically breaking into my house because we didn't have a key 
• a sunday afternoon nap with miss bailey mae 
• making lasagna for dinner -- one of my favorite meals 
• winding down with some chai tea before bed

1. i don't know what's going on, but i am totally loving red hair right now. 

2. not your typical animal print 

3. you can never wear too many bracelets. i say stack them!  

4. i could totally picture myself getting a simple heart tattoo. there's just something about them that i am completely obsessed with.

5. chambray is my go-to staple. just so many different fun ways to wear it!
