Time To Buckle Down

Sitting down and hashing out a schedule for blog posts was definitely something that needed to be done. I never had this approach to blogging, but after having such a hiatus, it was time to try out a new tactic. And it seems to be paying off so far! I'm blogging more, and I'm not having such a hard time sitting down and writing since I already know what needs to be done. Now hopefully I stick to this regimen. If all goes as planned, you will see new posts up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

Internship Update

I was actually lucky enough to get an internship lined up before I even moved to LA. It was a fashion PR/marketing internship at a fashion showroom in Downtown LA. I took over writing posts for Facebook and Twitter for a line called Sacred Heart Collections. I got really great experience with word crafting and graphics, as well as exposure to showroom sales. But unfortunately it just was not a good fit for me.  So I kept my eyes open for new opportunities...

And it paid off! About 4 weeks ago I landed a new internship for a brand called Gypsy Junkies! I'm actually really enjoying it. The clothing is to die for- really boho and obviously gypsy! You know, right up my alley. And the location is perfect! Their headquarters is located in West Hollywood, which beats driving all the way downtown. I create posts for their Twitter, coming up with mood posts, as well as product shots. Because of this, I spend a lot of time browsing through tumblr and online retailers, which isn't half bad if you ask me. It's not a paying gig, but hey, it's a start in the right direction.

One thing I've learned from these internships is that it's really important for me to like what I am doing. I think it totally helps to be super into what you're working with in order to come up with great work. And with staying happy and in a good mood! I've noticed that if I'm not excited about my work day, it has a huge impact on my mood for the rest of the day!

I just hope that I can continue working with great brands and keep gaining great experience. Oh, and new connections and friendships doesn't hurt either :)

Fall Makeup

MAC Matte Lipstick in Diva

Now that the weather has finally cooled down, I have started transitioning my makeup from summer to fall. I usually just bring out the dark lipstick, pink blush, and rock the cat-eye eyeliner. This year, though, I'd like to embrace a trend that I normally wouldn't. I'm looking at you, orange eyeshadow...

Here are some of my favorite makeup looks for fall that I am constantly drawing inspiration from.

I love the dark look- dark brows, dark eyes, and dark lips.

Who doesn't love a great cat-eye?

Out of all these looks, these last two are most like my own makeup routine.
Very minimal with a swipe of lipstick.

Fall makeup is my favorite, hands down.
Need any convincing? Just look through this post one more time.

One More Obsession To Add To The List

We all know that I have a million (a slight exaggeration) obsessions, but this fall I am obsessed with ankle booties. I have pretty much been wearing my taupe pair to death lately, but sometimes when getting dressed, my outfit just didn't look right or pulled together. That's when I knew I wouldn't feel complete until I had my hands on some brand new, spiffy black booties. Well, yesterday was my lucky day because I found the perfect pair! They are pretty much like the Jeffrey Campbell Everly Boot, only a whole lot cheaper since I bought them from a little random shoe store in the Westfield Topanga Mall. Since I don't care much for labels, I'm really glad I didn't have to splurge and found a pair at a reasonable price.

Even though I am pleased with my collection right now, I couldn't help ogling over these booties (pictured above), which are available at Cruise Fashion. I LOVE these lovely pairs of booties so much, I might have to make room for more!

Okay, okay, I'll stop with the "bootie" talk now.

Bloggers Only

Last night, I "worked" my first fashion event. It was a "First Glimpse" Bloggers-Only Fashion Presentation hosted by The Blogger Babes at the showroom where I am currently interning. I could not have been more thrilled about this event since I am a fashion blogger myself. This was an exclusive preview of designer collections from Love Gia, Sacred Heart Collections, Rachel Sin, Yoze, and Idea Minerva. I did help out a bit by painting those lovely white pedestals you see below and somewhat dressing the models, but the majority of the time, I was observing the event. I just wish I could have been there as a guest and conversed with my fellow bloggers. I suppose I could have anyways, but I felt obligated to stay more behind the scenes.

And let me tell you, preparing models for an event like this is hard work. You have to make sure the clothes actually fix, decide what looks best on each girl, accessorize them, and make sure this is all done quickly and smoothly. Behind the scenes of an event like this is actually kind of a mess- clothes thrown about, shoes everywhere, and a whole bunch of naked models. I now have a whole new perspective of this industry. It's not all fun and clothes- it's actually hard work!

All and all, I enjoyed my first real fashion event, but I am SO ready for the weekend!
